Ada has worked as a veterinary assistant in the ER at DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital since the winter of 2007. She volunteers with the field unit of Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS) helping to provide veterinary care to underserved communities throughout the US, and as a trainer at Oregon Humane Society.  Before devoting herself full time to the well being of animals and the people who care for them, Ada earned a PhD from Duke University, teaching literature and working in interdisciplinary studies.

Pursuing a path with heart has led happily to Dr Rausch's cardiology practice.  Ada shares a home with her partner, Thérèse, who is a painter, and a pack of oddball animals who are able companions in an ongoing quest to find the sunny spots along the river.
